i just had a flashback and i remembered that i wore uniforms in elementary and junior high... then in high school i stopped wearing uniform and it felt pretty good... there are a number of people that like the idea of uniforms and others that oppose it
what do you guys think about school uniforms and why?
Dj Dseptikon
Aug 26 2007, 12:12 PM
Well I approve of it in gang infested areas of schools so kids don't wear the wrong color and have it formal...but in middle school I don't feel there's a need for it.

oh shiet vince! i was thinking of the same question in here!

anyways, i think school uniforms are kiinda cool... school is not a fashion statement, you're coming to school to learn not show off what you have on your back; half of the time, the kids don't even have money to get all that expensive stuff, they get it so maybe they won't be teased by the other kids... when i was in school, we wasn't required to wear uniforms, it would probably save my mom alot of money...
Dj Dseptikon
Aug 26 2007, 12:41 PM
We had that suggestion while I was in elementary school then the district made everyone go to wal mart cause it was cheaper -___-
DJ Green Leef
Aug 26 2007, 04:51 PM
^^how can they MAKE you go to Wal*Mart?

but i think that the uniform is smart for certian applications. Such as in a heavily gang infested area or areas of poverty, etc.
it depends on the whole situtation....

^as for that, its true that you save money, but then where is the "individual"?

you dun need clothes to determine your individuality... first of all, you come to school to learn not show of what kind of clothes your parents got on your back cz you sure didn't buy those clothes for yourself. education is first.. you can have all the individuality you want once you graduate from school
DJ Green Leef
Aug 26 2007, 04:58 PM
Well......

maybe its just cuz i design clothes...so i wouldn't want uniforms
Dj Dseptikon

Melyssa is right about individuality...your parents guide your back until your teenage years that's when they slowly let you go and make you get a job and try to kick you out of the house

at skot going to wal-mart, and yeah i kind of do agree with melyssa, your clothes dont really say who you really are as an individual

I agree with Melyssa's post. I mean, there are a lot of people who are bullied because of how they dressed. Wearing a uniform, everyone is the same so you wouldn't need to go through all that.
And I mean, High school isn't all that important - well it is, education and all but if you're popular in HS, that doesn't mean anything when you come out into the real world.
I really don't understand why it's so important to dress so well in school. All those girls dressing up, putting on so much make up... for what? You're going to school, not work.
I've never had to wear a uniform though. And I don't think it would be all that bad to wear them.
yes sir
Aug 28 2007, 05:58 AM
yea i agree with meylessa also, theres no need to be picked on or to pick on others on how they look since everybody will look the same. the only thing that probably stands out is maybe the hair if youre gutsy enough to have it look like an anime character,

. but really, you will see skirts everyday in school even in the winter time, keke. besides people likes their man or woman in uniform. YES SIR!

i like the japanese uniforms, its a good idea, it makes it harder initially to tell whose poor or rich and creates equality.
plus who can resist a hot asian girl w/ a sailor uniform!

You know, a lot of you mention that uniforms are good for gang-infested areas...and I agree with that...EXCEPT, for me, we had uniforms at my private, all-girls school and I have to say that it was just really nice to be able to not have to compete with other girls over the way that we dressed. Also, it was really nice to wake up and not have to decide what to wear that day

I hate picking out my clothes in the morning!

Ah Sara I so know what you mean. You don't have to go through, "What am I gonna wear today?"
I think it would save some bullying as well. I mean there are many places, people are bullied over what they wear etc etc.
I heard at a Catholic school in my city, at lunch they're allowed to change into their normal clothes, but once lunch ends, they have to change back into their uniforms. That is sooo dumb! I mean, lunch is only what, an hour or so. Why waste your time to change?

that's weird Joann! At my high school we had to wear white socks with our skirts...but once we were seniors, our 1 priviledge was that we were allowed to wear whatever colored socks we wanted! So we used to get some really crazy ones...like sparkly, funky colors...it made the whole uniform thing kind of exciting.

My girlfriend even takes like half an hour just to get ready to go to movies with me....but it always amazes me how she seems to pick just the right thing...for school she picks cool stuff too...and we always seem to match...its almost like she's contemplating what im wearing to match

I'm not against a dress code at all since I've attended to catholic schools since 1st grade. It saves money for other clothes. You don't have to buy new clothes every week just to be "cool." I do that, though.

You don't have to worry about what to wear. I also love it because catholic school girls and skirts are a perfect match.
